Linksys Storage Link for USB 2.0 Disk Drives NSLU2

Average rating: Stars
Stars Good concept, poor customer service
The concept is good - but Linksys customer support is - at best - inadequate. After my unit failed while under warranty, only seven months after I bought it new, I contacted their customer support service. Their customer service appears to work in only one speed - slow - taking days to respond to emails if they even respond. After they agreed to replace my unit under warranty, it took them just about two months to ship me a working replacment. Consider their support if you want to think about using this unit to back up critical files.

Stars Good but be informed >>>>>>
This is a great item. I had problems with it in the beginning, people couldn't access it. Come to find out that my ISP blocks the HTTP port, wich is what the NSLU2 needs in order to be accessed by others over the internet. No one said anything about it. I spent 40min on the phone with linksys trying to figure out why no one could access it. Finally i looked on the Knowledge Base at Linksys.com and found out that if you add a storage device behing a router and it can't be access by others it's because your isp might be blocking the HTTP port. There is no mention of this anywhere, SO beware. Check with your isp and make sure that the HTTTP port, usually port 80, is not blocked. But in other words it does what it says and more. I gave it a 4 because of the lacking of the info on the HTTP.

Stars Great network attached storage
This NAS device is excellent. It is inexpensive, easy to setup, easy to use and easily attaches to your network. It does everything the advertising says it does and more. It is excellent for backup and even better at storing commonly used files across the network. Worth every penny and more.
