Performs flawlessly, attractive package, and reasonable price! |
I had a generic CF reader, but needed a more versatile media reader with the arrival of my Canon SD500 which uses SD cards instead of the CF used by my other Canon camera.
This little gem is beautifully put together. It is made of plastic but nicely appointed with a power LED and very useful flashing LED to indicate when files are being transfered.
I've only tested the CF and SD capabilities of this unit but have no doubt it works flawlessly as designed with other types of media.
This is a USB 2.0 device and transfers files very quickly and reliably with no errors during any of the transfers. I've transered files both from the cards and to the cards (downloading and uploading) with no problems whatsoever.
The unit is immediately recognized by Windows XP as a generic storage device and requires no additional drivers. No installation difficulties or hassles whatsoever.
The USB cable attaches to the left SIDE of the reader at the back. It would have been better had it attached to the BACK of the media reader, but this is only a minimal problem that can easily be worked around. in arranging the device on your desktop. |

Don't buy this |
| This won't read my POI 256mb or PNY 512 mb cards. Spent forever online with Lexar who suggested I try a Lexar card. I don't want to go out and buy another card just to try it and when especially its supposed to work with all cards. He then suggested I contact the card manufacturers despite the fact that the cards work just fine in my Coolpix 8700. It will be on its way back to Amazon tomorrow. Wasted enough time already and really ticked off. |
