it really works |
| when i ordered this, i really did not know if it would help me.....i was going to order a cc radio plus, but after reading the reviews of the GE superradio 3, i decided to save money and go with the GE and the TERK....i am so glad that i did.... now,i can listen to the all sports station in birmingham, in my home, or outside and it really comes in loud and clear as a bell....i own several radios and none of them did the job.....the automobile radio was really the only choice that i had when i wanted to listen to this station....not anymore....this antenna is for real and so is the GE radio....don't spend all of that money for a cc radio....this combo goes way beyond my expectations |

Wireless magic |
I listen to a lot of AM radio, so I recently purchased a Griffin RadioShark. The RadioShark is said to be "Tivo for your radio," and it isn't a bad product. Unfortunately, its AM tuner weak, falling short of what I would expect from even a modest clock-radio. I managed to get good reception on only 2 of the 3 AM stations I was interested in. Admittedly, that 3rd station is not a powerhouse, but still, I was disappointed.
Enter the Terk AM Advantage. I had read good reviews of this product, so I decided to give it a try. I knew it was a roll of the dice; everyone's situation is different, and no antenna will work equally well for everyone. But I can say that in my situation, the AM Advantage did the trick. Literally all I needed to do was turn the knob on the AM Advantage to my weak station's frequency and place it next to my RadioShark to improve reception. It took a few more seconds of moving it around to find the sweet spot, and my weakest station was coming in as well as my strongest. (The AM Advantage, tuned for one station, did not mess up my other stations either.)
The AM Advantage has a jack and a cable so you can connect it directly to antenna inputs, if you have them, but the wireless mode, which I used, seems to work pretty well.
Lastly, the base is coated with non-skid rubber, a nice touch.
While this product won't work for everyone, it did work perfectly for me, and I would recommend that anyone struggling with AM reception give it a try. I was definitely pleasantly surprised. |

Better than expected! |
| I just recently received this antenna, and was amazed at its ability to help null out strong stations and bring in the weaker ones! I was a bit worried based on a previous review, but am relieved to report that this antenna is GREAT! The trick to using this antenna is to NOT plug the antenna directly into your radio, but to use it conductively in conjunction with your radio's internal antenna. Try moving it around in different configurations around the radio to get a feel for the best location. Perhaps one of the other reviewers received a defective antenna - although I can see where one would be disappointed if they just plugged the antenna in and were expecting amazing results (which may be the case for that person). For the money - this antenna is an amazing tool for the armchair AM DX'er! I WHOLEHEARTEDLY recommend this antenna!!! |
